Chinese mythology has a variety of hunter deities. There is the Nu Gua, the Fu Xi, the Lei Gong, and the Xiwangmu. Each is a different hunter deity with a distinct personality. Let’s look at some of them and see what their stories have to offer.nNu GuanThe hunter deity Nu Gua, also known as the Great Mother Goddess, was worshipped by the Xiong tribe of Northern China. She was described as having a long serpent’s tail, fleshy horns, and a large head. She originally existed as a snail, but she is now most often represented as a snake deity. In some accounts, she may be half-snake, half-human, or even a half-dragon.nThe hunter deity’s myths were first recorded in Chinese history during the Han Dynasty (206 BC – 220 AD), but they had been passed down orally since a much earlier time period. However, during the Qin Dynasty, the first emperor of that dynasty destroyed many of the written documents and myths, destroying many important cultural elements. During the Han Dynasty, scholars revised what was left. They reclaimed many of the ancient legends and myths as their own, adding their own twists to the original stories.nThroughout Chinese mythology, Nu Gua is portrayed in various aspects of culture and art. The most popular version of Nu Gua is as a little anthropomorphic figure covered in leaves or bearskin holding the egg of creation. In addition, Nuwa is often portrayed as half-snake.nNu Gua is one of three main characters of Chinese mythology. Along with the hunter deity Fuxi, he and the hunter deity Nuwa are the Three Sovereigns. These two deities are brothers and sisters, and their worship is highly valued by the Chinese.nXiwangmunThe Chinese mythos hunter deity – Xiwangmu – is a goddess of hunting and protection. She is believed to ride in a chariot drawn by a phoenix. She is sometimes accompanied by a deer, which represents longevity. The goddess is also associated with the spring festival of fertility.nHer origins are obscure. She was considered a demon in early dynasties, but her role as a goddess began to evolve during the Tang Dynasty. She was then regarded as a repentant goddess. Her role in this world was to protect the people from evil.nThe deity also grants a mandate to Chinese emperors. It is said that Xiwangmu can communicate directly with the heavens and earth. In addition to being a deity, he can grant an emperor the Mandate of Heaven, which is considered to be his divine right to rule. The first emperor to claim the Mandate of Heaven was Emperor Shun of Shanxi.nAnother Chinese mythos hunter deity is Nuwa. The Chinese believe Nuwa is an earlier version of the yin and yang principle. She is associated with the feminine principle, while the male principle is associated with the earth. She is also a protector of animals and humans. She is also associated with order and is the patron of marriage and family life. Although the myths surrounding this hunter deity differ from those of Taoism and Gonggong, the basic story is similar.nLei GongnIn Chinese mythology, the hunter deity Lei Gong, also known as Lei Kung and Lei Shen, is a powerful deity who punishes mortals for secret crimes and evil spirits who use Daoism. He is often depicted as a fierce creature with claws and wings, dressed in a loincloth, and carrying a drum or mallet. He also carries a hammer and uses it to strike down evildoers.nThe hunter once woke up and found a note from the hunter deity Lei Gong. The note was a promise to give him another 12 years of life. However, the hunter thought the child was a demon and shot out the child’s hand. The hunter hit the tree by accident, as he was unaware of the child’s true form.nLei Gong is the hunter deity of the ancient Chinese people. He is a hunter and a huntress. He is a member of the Eight Immortals, who are a diverse group from various social classes in the country. He is also the ruler of Diyu, the Chinese underworld. The Eight Immortals were originally three kings who ruled Heaven and Earth before giving the position to the Jade Emperor. They are the most ancient beings in existence and are closely related to Taoism.nLei Gong, also known as the God of Wealth, is an important deity in Chinese mythology. He has many aspects and incarnations, but his most common image is a seated man holding a gold bar. The god of wealth, or Wealth Star Lord, was also an important county official in Northern Wei Dynasty.nP’an KunThe Chinese mythos hunter deity P ‘an Ku is an important figure in the Chinese mythology. He is said to have created the universe. In this myth, P’an Ku chiseled the sky and land into two halves. When he died, the resulting fragments became the sky and the earth. His skull formed the dome of the sky and the bones formed the rivers and seas. His hair formed plants and animals, and his voice produced thunder. He also taught mankind how to build boats and throw bridges over rivers. He also revealed the secrets of precious stones.nP’an Ku was a disciple of the Buddha. He once wrote the character for’sun’ in his left hand and the character for’moon’ in his right hand. Then, he went to the Han Sea. There, he stretched his left hand to call the sun and the moon. He then repeated the charm seven times and the sun and moon appeared in the sky.nThe hunter deity P’an Ku is often portrayed as a dwarf with horns on his head. He carries a hammer in his right hand and a chisel in his left hand. His companions are four supernatural creatures who serve him. His other hand holds the moon and the sun, the first fruits of his stupendous labour.
