A blighted gicle print is a fine art reproduction of an image that has undergone a faulty printing process. The term “giclee” comes from the French word, “nozzle,” and refers to a process of printing on archival paper using pigment-based inks. These materials preserve the image’s quality for up to 100 years. Giclees are a relatively new fine art printing technique. When Jack Duggane began the process, he was concerned that people viewed inkjet printing as a subpar method of producing art reproductions. Duggane sought a term that would remove the negative connotation.
