He was a human before he became a god, and was known as the “god of the stove” and the “god of the kitchen.” Many Chinese hang a picture of him over the stove. Zao Jun was married to a woman named Guodin Sien, a beautiful dream girl who was a good cook. Chan was lucky to have her help.
